Le attrazioni principali di Dubai? Ecco quali secondo me sono quelle imperdibili se siete nella perla degli Emirati Arabi.

COSA NON VEDERE

A parer mio, di davvero poco interesse e molto “costruita” è quella che ci viene presentata come la Vecchia Dubai. Anche il souk dell’oro e delle spezie lasciano un pò perplessi. Chi ha visitato Istanbul vedrà immediatamente le differenze. Sembra quasi che anche qui doveva esserci per forza un’anima antica, che in realtà cozza con lo spirito della vera Dubai: quella moderna dei grattacieli. Evitate anche il Museo della città di Dubai, pieno di manichini e animali di plastica.

COSA VEDERE

Burj al Arab

Da restare a bocca aperta? Il Burj al Arab, il famoso hotel a 7 stelle simbolo della città con la sua struttura a vela. Con i suoi 321 metri è il terzo hotel più alto al mondo e tra gli edifici si piazza al 48simo posto.

Costruito su un’isola artificiale collegata con una passerella di 280 m a Jumeirah Beach, per un volume di 70.000 metri cubi, la sua realizzazione ha richiesto l’impiego di 9.000 mq di acciaio. Progettato da Tom Wright e costato 650 milioni di dollari, dispone di un eliporto all’ultimo piano che è stato più volte adattato per ospitare eventi, uno tra tutti: la sfida tennistica fra Andre Agassi e Roger Federer nel 2005.

Burj Khalifa

Il Burj Khalifa con un’altezza di 828 metri e 160 piani è il grattacielo più alto del mondo. E’ possibile visitarlo e godere di una fantastica vista su Dubai, grazie all’osservatorio At the top. Sotto di voi distese di sabbia e deserto, grattacieli e piscine.

L’accesso alla Burj Khalifa avviene dal Dubai Mall e si può salire alle due piattaforme di osservazione a 360 gradi, quella al 124simo piano (At the Top, 456 metri) e quella al 148simo piano (At the Top, Burj Khalifa SKY a 555 metri).

Il Dubai Mall occupa un’area complessiva di 700 x 600 metri, 1200 negozi, ovviamente è il centro commerciale più grande al mondo. Sono circa sei milioni le persone che, in media, ogni mese lo visitano.

Si trova nella zona di Downtown Dubai. Ha una fermata della metro apposita della linea rossa, Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa (però è circa ad 1 km dall’ingresso del centro commerciale).

Le attrazioni del Dubai Mall oltre al Burj Khalifa? Le Dubai Fontain, progettate da California-based WET, che hanno conquistato il titolo di fontana coreografica più grande al mondo. A completare la coreografia della danza della fontana ci sono luci, proiezioni e musica. Lo spettacolo della fontana danzante viene proposto tutti i giorni (tranne il venerdì) alle 13 e 13.30 (il venerdì alle 13.30 e alle 14) e tutte le sere, dalle 18 alle 23 ogni mezz’ora.

Il Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, uno dei più grandi al mondo, è un grande acquario con oltre dieci milioni di litri d’acqua e migliaia di pesci, ma non solo…  All’Underwater Zoo potrete vedere riproduzioni della foresta pluviale, delle coste rocciose e dell’oceano, con diversi animali fra cui piranha, pesci gatti e pinguini.

Difficile da credere ma c’è anche Dubai Dino, lo scheletro quasi completamente autentico di un dinosauro rinvenuto in una cava nel Wyoming (USA) risalente a 155 milioni di anni fa.

Lo Ski Dubai è uno ski dome, una struttura dove si può sciare indoor. Pinguini inclusi. Ci sono diversi modi per visitarlo, un pò a tutti i prezzi. Tutto (o quasi) quello che vorreste fare sulla neve, allo Ski Dubai, è possibile: sci, snowboard, slittino. Per il freesytle c’è un’area apposita e se volete provare il brivido dello Snow Bullet (zip line a 16 metri di altezza per 150 metri di lunghezza), lo Ski Dubai ha anche questo.

Dubai Creek

Dubai, come la stragrande maggioranza delle città, ha mosso i suoi primi passi in prossimità di un canale d’acqua, il Creek. Testimone silenzioso, ma attento della storia della città, ancora oggi un punto di riferimento per gli abitanti e un polo di attrazione per i turisti. Davvero suggestivo attraversarlo sull’imbarcazione locale: l’abra. Per appena un dirham ne vale la pena.

Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina è una delle zone più belle della città. Nata per mano dell’uomo letteralmente dal nulla. In pochissimi posti al mondo la fantasia diviene realtà, ma Dubai è uno di questi. I migliori ingegneri e architetti hanno immaginato cose straordinarie e sono riusciti a tramutarlo in qualcosa di concreto.

Il Lost Chambers Aquarium non è semplicemente un acquario, è l’antica Atlantide. Una dimensione mitica e un tocco magico rendono la visita unica. Oltre 65.000 specie marine in una serie di tunnel e labirinti che offrono ai visitatori prospettive mai viste prima della vita sottomarina. Aragoste, squali, anguille, meduse, piovre, cavallucci marini e piraña, ma soprattutto i due fratellini Ali e Blu, i due rari alligatori albini.

Little Venice

Zona molto carina per bere qualcosa, fare shopping e trascorrere qualche ora. E’ possibile vedere l’intera struttura, fatta non solo di bar – negozi – hotel, con una piccola barca. Molto suggestiva al tramonto. Si passa tra i canali e si conclude con la vista dall’acqua del Burj al Arab tra le palme.

WHAT NOT TO SEE

In my opinion, very little interest and very “built” is that which is presented to us as Old Dubai. Even the souks of gold and spices leave a little perplexing. Anyone who has visited Istanbul will immediately see the difference. It almost seems that here too there must have been an ancient soul, which actually clashes with the spirit of true Dubai: the modern one of skyscrapers. Also avoid the Dubai City Museum, full of mannequins and plastic animals.

WHAT SEE

Burj al Arab

To be open-mouthed? The Burj al Arab, the famous 7-star hotel, symbol of the city with its sailing structure. With its 321 meters it is the third tallest hotel in the world and among the buildings it is placed in 48th place.

Built on an artificial island connected with a 280 m footbridge to Jumeirah Beach, for a volume of 70,000 cubic meters, its construction required the use of 9,000 square meters of steel. Burj Khalifa with a height of 828 meters and 160 floors is the tallest skyscraper in the world. It is possible to visit it and enjoy a fantastic view of Dubai, thanks to the At the top observatory. Below you stretches of sand and desert, skyscrapers and pools.

Access to the Burj Khalifa is from the Dubai Mall and you can get to the two 360-degree observation platforms, the 124th floor (At the Top, 456 meters) and the 148th floor (At the Top, Burj Khalifa SKY at 555) meters).

To complete the choreography of the fountain dance there are lights, projections and music. The show of the dancing fountain is offered every day (except Friday) at 13 and 13.30 (Friday at 13.30 and at 14) and every evening, from 18 to 23 every half hour.

The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, one of the largest in the world, is a large aquarium with over ten million liters of water and thousands of fish, but not only … At the Underwater Zoo you can see reproductions of the rainforest, rocky coasts and ocean, with different animals including piranhas, catfish and penguins.

Hard to believe but there is also Dubai Dino, the almost completely authentic skeleton of a dinosaur found in a quarry in Wyoming (USA) dating back to 155 million years ago.

Ski Dubai is a ski dome, a structure where you can ski indoors. Penguins included. There are several ways to visit it, a little bit at all prices. Everything (or almost) what you would like to do in the snow, at Ski Dubai, you can: ski, snowboard, sled. For the freesytle there is a special area and if you want to experience the thrill of the Snow Bullet (zip line 16 meters high for 150 meters in length), Ski Dubai also has this.

Dubai Creek

Dubai, like the vast majority of cities, took its first steps near a water channel, the Creek. A silent but attentive witness to the history of the city, still today a reference point for the inhabitants and a pole of attraction for tourists. Really impressive to cross it on the local boat: the abra. For just a dirham it’s worth it.

Very nice area for a drink, shopping and spending a few hours. It is possible to see the entire structure, made not only of bars – shops – hotels, with a small boat. Very impressive at sunset. It passes between the canals and ends with the view from the water of the Burj al Arab between the palms.
