GRAN MOSCHEA DELLO SCEICCO ZAYED
La Gran Moschea dello Sceicco Zayed, dai materiali preziosi, mille colonne di marmo bianco e 82 cupole. Un portale d’ingresso gigantesco incornicia una delle moschee più belle e più grandi del mondo. Il bianco del marmo e i disegni floreali intarsiati del pavimento la rendono magnifica. La vista più suggestiva è quella dal Wahat Al Karama, tributo ai soldati degli Emirati Arabi Uniti caduti a servizio del proprio paese. Qui lo specchio d’acqua, il tramonto e il richiamo alla preghiera del muezzin creano una magia difficile da spiegare.
LOUVRE
Abu Dhabi è in continua espansione e movimento. Il migliore esempio di questa vivacità è il nuovo Louvre nel distretto di Saadiyat, isola per ora dominata dalle gru ma tra pochi anni sarà la sede di un luna-park per gli amanti di arte e architettura. Da pochi mesi è aperto il nuovo Museo del Louvre e se pensate che questa sia solo una piccola succursale del celeberrimo Louvre di Parigi vi state sbagliando. Questo capolavoro dell’architettura contemporanea al suo interno contiene una collezione d’arte senza paragoni. In più aggiungeteci uno Jean Nouvel incredibile, maestro di eleganza e tecnologia, che ha saputo creare il gioco sapiente, rigoroso e magnifico dei volumi raggruppati sotto la luce.

ETIHAD TOWERS
Per gli amanti dell’architettura questo è il posto perfetto. Un esempio di straordinaria espressione architettonica e una meravigliosa vista sul Golfo Persico. Il complesso comprende cinque torri, tra cui l’hotel a cinque stelle Jumeirah, 280 metri di altezza. Al 47 ° piano della torre 2, il ponte di osservazione offre una vista mozzafiato sulla città e sulle isole.

Il primo edificio circolare in Arabia. Su una penisola sopraelevata, 23 piani e 110 metri di altezza. “Una delle strutture per uffici aziendali più stupefacenti del mondo” definita così per il suo design innovativo, l’impatto visivo e la sua funzione. In occasione della Building Exchange Conference del 2008, l’edificio ha anche ottenuto il premio per il “Miglior design futuristico”.
CAPITAL GATE
Torre di Pisa cosa? Lungo la Khaleej Al Arabi Street si erge la Capital Gate, la torre più inclinata mai costruita dall’uomo secondo il Guinness dei Primati. È inclinata di 18 gradi, più di quattro volte l’inclinazione della Torre pendente di Pisa. 160 metri e 35 piani, inutile dire che è l’icona di Abu Dhabi.

CORNICHE BEACH
Tra le spiagge più belle e famose di Abu Dhabi c’è la Corniche Beach. La spiaggia pubblica è divisa in tre sezioni: Al Sahil è dedicata ai single e ai gruppi, Gate 2 è dedicata alle famiglie e Gate 3 è dedicata alle famiglie, ma in particolare ai bambini. Area giochi, piste ciclabili, bar, ristoranti e numerose strutture sportive gratuite, tra cui cinque campi di pallavolo, due campi da calcio e tre campi da gioco. È possibile noleggiare un motoscafo per ammirare da un altro punto di vista lo skyline di Abu Dhabi oppure fare snorkeling.

Il parco tematico firmato Ferrari. Un’architettura (più che) futuristica che contiene attrazioni come giostre, circuiti, prove di guida, ristoranti, cinema e molto altro. Per i bambini che non crescono mai o per quelli che lo sono davvero.

SHEIK ZAYED BRIDGE
Firmato da Zaha Hadid, vincitrice del premio Pritzker, il Ponte dello Sceicco Zayed vanta una lunghezza pari a 842 metri e un’altezza di 64 metri. Archi che ricordano le dune di sabbia e un’illuminazione dinamica con colori sfumati.
EMIRATES PALACE
La più lussuosa tra le lussuose. Una struttura celebre in tutto il mondo per la sua esclusiva filosofia a cinque stelle. Situato nel cuore di Abu Dhabi, l’Emirates Palace ha una spiaggia privata incontaminata di 1,3 km, piscine panoramiche e un porto privato che si affaccia su una baia naturale. Un’esperienza che chi può, deve vivere.

Il clima è sub-tropicale arido, quindi le piogge sono rare. Le temperature vedono le minime sui 13°C nelle notti dei mesi invernali e le massime intorno ai 42°C nelle calde giornate estive. I mesi più indicati sono quelli tra Novembre e Aprile. Io sono stata ad Abu Dhabi a Febbraio e il clima era perfetto. Caldo ma non troppo, il periodo l’ideale.
L’abbigliamento è un tasto da non sottovalutare. Nonostante che Abu Dhabi sia una delle realtà più liberali dell’area mediorientale, consiglio abiti non troppo succinti o inappropriati. Soprattutto nei luoghi pubblici è sempre opportuno rispettare la cultura e le tradizioni locali. La mia esperienza? Una bella camicia fresca, sandali e un paio di jeans.
