Firenze e Jorit omaggiano Nelson Mandela

Per la sua prima volta a Firenze, Jorit ha realizzato il ritratto di Nelson Mandela in piazza Leopoldo. L’iniziativa, nata per celebrare i cento anni dalla nascita del Premio Nobel, è stata promossa dall’associazione Mandela Forum con la collaborazione tra gli altri anche di Unicoop Firenze, Fondazione CR Firenze e della stessa Città Metropolitana di Firenze.

Il Condominio dei Diritti è il nome del progetto che ha trasformato un semplice edificio residenziale di periferia in opera d’arte. Da oggi in poi questa parete ospiterà una tra le più importanti personalità del nostro tempo, come a ricordarci quotidianamente la sua battaglia per i diritti di tutti.

Nelson Mandela lo conosciamo tutti, ma Jorit chi è?

Jorit Agoch, classe 1990, Napoletano, da padre Italiano e madre Olandese, uno tra i migliori street artist al mondo. Raffigura dei guerrieri moderni e, infatti, li marchia con due strisce rosse sulle guance. Come in un rituale magico, in particolare quello africano della scarnificazione – passaggio iniziatico dall’infanzia all’età adulta e momento del vero ingresso nella tribù. E quella di Jorit è proprio una tribù, la Human Tribe. I personaggi che ne fanno parte hanno tracciato un segno indelebile nella memoria collettiva: Ilaria Cucchi, Maradona, Che Guevara ma anche San Gennaro, la piccola Ael di Ponticelli e Ahed Tamimi (il murales dedicato all’adolescente palestinese, alcuni mesi fa è stato la causa dell’arresto a Betlemme dell’artista).

Torna spesso nei suoi racconti la parola umanità. Il motivo è perché ci parla di volti e di persone. Mette in luce la forza nei loro occhi, ci sprona a leggerla ed ESSERE UMANI anche noi come loro.

For his first time in Florence, Jorit created the portrait of Nelson Mandela in Piazza Leopoldo. Nelson Mandela we all know him, but Jorit who is he?

Jorit Agoch, born in 1990, Neapolitan, from an Italian father and a Dutch mother, one of the best street artists in the world. It depicts modern warriors and, in fact, marks them with two red stripes on the cheeks. As in a magical ritual, in particular the African one of scarification – the initiatory passage from childhood to adulthood and the moment of true entry into the tribe. And that of Jorit is just a tribe, the Human Tribe. The characters that are part of it have made an indelible mark in the collective memory: Ilaria Cucchi, Maradona, Che Guevara but also San Gennaro, the little Ael of Ponticelli and Ahed Tamimi (the mural dedicated to the Palestinian adolescent, a few months ago was the due to the artist’s arrest in Bethlehem).
