Koufonissi è la più piccola delle Cicladi. Paradiso incontaminato dal mare cristallino e dalle calette nascoste. Poco più di 300 abitanti per una superficie di circa 4 km quadrati.
Quanti giorni a Koufonissi, o in greco Koufonisia?
Se inserite l’isola in un giro più ampio il mio consiglio è quello di dedicarle tre giorni. Se invece volete concedervi un relax totale e pensare solo a quale costume indossare allora andrà bene una settimana.
Quando andare?
Isola molto piccola. Cinque negozi e due supermarket. Zero macchine e motorini, se non quelli dei locali. Spiagge una dietro l’altra. Nonostante Koufonisia sia di così ridotte dimensioni è una delle mete più visitate dai turisti, perciò se non amate luoghi affollati e rumorosi, l’imperativo è quello di prenotate per il periodo che va dalla fine di Maggio all’inizio di Giugno oppure per le ultime settimane di Settembre.
Dove alloggiare?
Io ho dormito da Petros Rooms. Balconcini blu e pareti bianche. Ogni mattina a colazione yogurt greco col miele e vista sul mare. A metà strada tra il centro abitato e le spiagge. A pochi passi dalla fermata del taxi boat, per chi non ha voglia di camminare.
Come arrivare a Koufonissi?
Per arrivare a Koufonissi il 90% di chi viaggia passa per Mykonos (di cui vi ho parlato in un’altro articolo: https://tornopercena.com/2018/09/12/mykonos-il-bianco-e-il-blu -of-cyclades/).
Con un volo diretto da tutti i più grandi aeroporti arrivate nella bella Mykonos e godetevi una notte qua. Questa isola ha sempre il suo fascino ed è un piacevole intermezzo. E poi siete in Grecia, non fate le cose di corsa. Il giorno successivo prendete l’high-speed e in pochissimo sarete giunti alla meta finale.
Spiagge?
Preparatevi a trovare di fronte a voi i Caraibi. Si, anche se siete nel vicino Egeo. Sabbia morbida, acqua cristallina e una leggera brezza.
Come vi ho già accennato le spiagge sull’isola sono una dietro l’altra, raggiungibili a piedi o con un taxiboat (5 euro andata e ritorno). Quelle a cui ho dato 3 stelle su 3 sono: Pori, le calette deserte che si incontrano percorrendo il sentiero a piedi e Devil’s eye. Molto belle anche Portes, Finikas, Platia e Fanos.
Pori ha una particolare forma a ferro di cavallo. Una volta qua capirete perché è famosa in tutta la Grecia.
Devil’s eye. Un nome un pò particolare per una spiaggia, no? In realtà è una piscina naturale a forma di cuore.
Italida, tempio non scritto dei nudisti.
Gala è caratterizzata da una grotta sotto la scogliera. Unica.
Dove mangiare?
Sono stata solo tre giorni sull’isola, quindi ho avuto poco tempo per sperimentare le taverne. Di sicuro consiglio Aneplora, una terrazza direttamente sul porto secondario di Koufonissi. Pesce fresco insieme a piatti sfiziosi della tradizione e non.
Pita Gyros? Souvlaki Sti Strofi. Tavolini e sedie sono direttamente nella via, davanti alla piccola finestrella da cui ordinate. Non vi aspettate una taverna, è un take-away. Ma la fila che si crea ogni sera conferma la sua fama.

How many days in Koufonissi, or in Greek Koufonisia?
If you enter the island in a wider circle my advice is to spend three days. If, on the other hand, you want to indulge in total relaxation and think only of what costume to wear, then a week will be fine.
When to go?
Very small island. Five shops and two supermarkets. Zero cars and scooters, if not those of the premises. Beaches one after the other. Although Koufonisia is so small is one of the most visited by tourists, so if you do not like crowded and noisy places, the imperative is to book for the period from the end of May to the beginning of June or for the last weeks of September.
Where stay?
I slept from Petros Rooms. Blue balconies and white walls. Every morning at breakfast Greek yogurt with honey and sea view. Halfway between the town and the beaches. A few steps from the taxi boat stop, for those who do not want to walk.
How to get to Koufonissi?
To get to Koufonissi 90% of travelers travel to Mykonos (of which I spoke in another article: https://tornopercena.com/2018/09/12/mykonos-il-bianco-e-il-blu -of-cyclades/).
With a direct flight from all the major airports you arrive in beautiful Mykonos and enjoy a night here. This island always has its charm and is a pleasant interlude. And then you’re in Greece, do not do things in a rush. The next day take the high-speed and very soon you will have reached the final goal.
Beaches?
Prepare to find the Caribbean in front of you. Yes, even if you are in the Aegean. Soft sand, crystal clear water and a light breeze. As I have already mentioned, the beaches on the island are one behind the other, accessible on foot or with a taxiboat (5 euros return). Those that I gave 3 out of 3 stars are: Pori, the deserted coves that you meet along the walking trail and Devil’s eye. Portes, Finikas, Platia and Fanos are also very beautiful.
Pori has a particular horseshoe shape. Once here you will understand why it is famous throughout Greece.
Devil’s eye. A name a little bit special for a beach, right? In reality it is a natural pool in the shape of a heart.
Italida, an unspoken temple of nudists.
Gala is characterized by a cave under the cliff.
Where to eat?
I’ve only been three days on the island, so I had little time to experiment with the taverns. Certainly I recommend Aneplora, a terrace directly on the secondary port of Koufonissi. Fresh fish together with traditional dishes and not.
Pita Gyros? Souvlaki Sti Strofi. Tables and chairs are directly in the street, in front of the small window from which you order. Do not expect a taverna, it’s a take-away. But the line created every evening confirms his fame.
